For KING + COUNTRY’s Joel Smallbone spoke with Brandon Woolum on the red carpet at the Nashville premiere of I Can Only Imagine 2, celebrating the continued rise of faith-based films reaching mainstream audiences. Having experienced similar success with their own film Unsung Hero, Smallbone reflected on the pride he feels seeing stories rooted in faith, family, and music resonate on such a large scale. He praised Bart Millard and the filmmakers for their courage in telling an honest story, noting that these projects help remove the pedestal often placed on artists and reveal the real struggles behind the music.

Smallbone also shared that he is actively working on a new film project, teasing a Revolutionary War–era musical titled Drummer Boy the Movie, which will explore the story of two brothers on opposite sides of the battlefield. As both a musician and filmmaker, he expressed excitement about continuing to tell meaningful stories through multiple creative avenues. With faith-based films gaining momentum and connecting with wider audiences, Smallbone said he is proud to support projects like I Can Only Imagine 2 that highlight both vulnerability and hope.
