Heartily Cherished Lord (Psalm 18)

The Faroese singer / songwriter Eydun Jacobsen wrote this song and has been sung in Scandinavia ever since. It uses the text of Psalm 18. As the Danish lyrics are easy to follow and find online, I have not added it. This version is from Kristent Felleskap, Kristiansand in Norway. I have tried to keep the intimate nature of the original. This texted version was then used successfully at a church service texted in both languages, and it proved successful enough to consider uploading it for the enjoyment of others. The translation I made over a period of 3 days. It may be short, but it takes time to find something that fits the original rythm, text and fits the melody naturally. Stunning 'Because He Lives' Rendition Lyric Video

A handful of gifted performers gave a stunning rendition of the beloved hymn “Because He Lives” in a lyric video.

Hymns are some of the best, most moving and emotional pieces of music. Also, at the same time, they are some of the most underutilized. Many people and churches have moved away from the classic church tunes. Instead, they have chosen to go with more contemporary Christian music.

That’s a shame because those hymns are so well-written and full of so much truth. “How Great Thou Art,” “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” “Amazing Grace” and many others will never be topped. No matter how many times you hear a hymn, it never loses its meaning or emotional impact. Those words about Christ’s love, faithfulness and grace are as true today as they were when those hymns were first written.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Bill Gaither and his wife Gloria, the song’s original writers, and several other singers perform one of those beloved, classic hymns, “Because He Lives.” It’s an excellent and moving performance that gets the entire crowd on their feet and singing along with them.

Of course, the classic song praises God’s love and sacrifice in sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to Earth to die on the cross for us. But not only did He experience a horrible, humiliating and painful death on our behalf, but He also rose from the grave, winning the ultimate victory over sin and death.

The song’s chorus perfectly and articulately captures Christ’s love and sacrifice for us, a bunch of sinners who were and are not deserving of such love.

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living”

This is one performance that you’ll want to listen to and watch repeatedly.

Romans 5:8 “But God has made clear his love to us, in that, when we were still sinners, Christ gave his life for us.”

Anne Wilson's Stunning Live Performance of 'Strong'

Popular Christian musician Anne Wilson gave a stunning and awe-inspiring live performance of her hit song “Strong.”

This world is a lost and broken place. Sin has wrecked and ruined this location and everything else it touches, resulting in nothing but death, disease and pain. Human beings have made a mess of things, to say the least.

Unfortunately, because we reside in a fallen location, we’ll experience heartbreaking and gut-wrenching situations. We will go through dark valleys and endure circumstances that will push us to our very limit. This world will knock us down and leave us battered and bruised, with the scars to prove it.

But no matter how much we, as Christians, get knocked down, there is one who will always be there to pick us up. He’ll never leave our side, promising to always go through every battle and struggle with us.

In a clip posted on social media, Anne performed her uplifting and encouraging praise and worship song, “Strong.” As the song’s title indicates, it’s a tune about Christ’s never-ending love and how He will and has always remained by our side. His love and faithfulness are our strength.

The song’s chorus perfectly captures a place where many have likely found themselves: on their knees, reaching out to the Lord in prayer, asking for His help and guidance.

“Saying, ‘Dear Lord Jesus, you know I can’t do this on my own
I can’t do this on my own
Lord knows I’ve tried, but I’m good at falling down
Thank God, You’re good at picking me up off the ground”

It’s an uplifting and inspiring song about the strength, love and faithfulness of Jesus Christ. As long as we remain on Earth, we’ll come up against situations and circumstances that we’d rather not go through, but Christ will always stay with us, going through each one as well.

Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.”

Six Women Deliver Soul-Stirring 'Amazing Grace' Performance

A group of six women delivered a soul-stirring performance of the most beloved hymn of all time, “Amazing Grace.”

There are many classic songs and bands. Some that immediately come to mind are likely The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dolly Parton and others. Those bands and musicians are responsible for creating songs that are still heavily played and listened to today.

While it may not exactly be in the same genre as something by The Beatles or The Rolling Stones, “Amazing Grace” is undoubtedly a classic song. It is still widely played and performed. Despite being hundreds of years old, musicians still continue, and rightfully so, to play that beautiful song about God’s grace, love and forgiveness.

In a clip posted on YouTube, six women sing “Amazing Grace,” and it’s a lovely and stunning vocal performance by everyone. Each woman shows they have been incredibly blessed with much musical talent as they sing about God’s truly amazing and awe-inspiring grace.

The opening verse of “Amazing Grace” is one that many likely have memorized, but those words are still as emotional and meaningful as if hearing them for the first time.

“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see”

The song is likely beloved and meaningful to many because it perfectly describes a place where every Christ follower has found themselves at one time. No one deserves Christ’s love, forgiveness and grace. Yet, because He is so loving, He offers and extends that grace to sinners, completely changing their lives in the process. When they realize the difference that Christ has made in their lives, it’s like they were blind before and can now see.

Hebrews 4:16 “Then let us come near to the seat of grace without fear, so that mercy may be given to us, and we may get grace for our help in time of need.”

Chris Rupp's Stunning A Cappella Rendition of 'Lift High The Cross'

Chris Rupp’s Stunning A Cappella Rendition of ‘Lift High The Cross’

The incredibly gifted and skilled Chris Rupp has turned in a stunning a cappella rendition of the beloved hymn “Lift High the Cross.”

The world is full of lost and hurting people struggling to simply make it through each day. Many are looking for even the slightest, the tiniest glimmer of hope. They are crying and reaching out for any help, anything at all that will ease their pain and suffering.

Thankfully, there is one who can ease their pain, put their minds at rest and give them the peace they so desperately desire. Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, willingly went to the cross and suffered and died for sinners, both you and me included.

The cross, the spot of the Savior’s pain and eventual death, is also a sign of the ultimate sacrifice and His never-ending love. It was at the cross that Christ took our spot. He bled and died so that we might someday experience eternal life with Him.

In the video, Chris performs the hymn “Lift High the Cross,” which is about Christ dying on the cross. However, that is not the end. Three days later, He arose, leaving an empty tomb and willing the ultimate victory over sin, death, and shame.

The beautifully written lyrics perfectly and accurately articulate Christ’s love, signified by the cross and the price Christ willingly paid for you and me.

“Lift high the cross
The love of Christ proclaim
Till all the world adore
His sacred name”

As he always does, Chris knocks it out of the park with his outstanding vocal performance. He demonstrates his incredible musical talent and gifts. The entire rendition is him creating those sounds himself, using only his voice.

The video is also beautifully shot. Chris walks along a beach with the ocean behind him as the waves crash along the rocks.

1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the word of the cross seems foolish to those who are on the way to destruction, but to us who are on the way to salvation, it is the power of God.”

The Church Sisters' Stunning Rendition of 'The Angels Rejoiced Last Night'

Check out this incredible bluegrass/gospel performance. The Church Sisters' stunning rendition of 'The Angels Rejoiced Last Night.'

Larry’s Country Diner is full of a crowd and the musicians start to play the intro. As The Church Sisters begin singing, you will be in awe of their beautiful blend and pure tones. From the very first line, they have you wanting to hear more of their voices. The lead vocalist has a rich and gorgeous tone and her sister has an angelic sound and soars on the high pitched notes effortlessly.

They do a wonderful job of storytelling through the song. It is an emotional song but precious about the faith of a mother who passed away. The harmonies in the second chorus are brilliantly unexpected and sharp. The lead singer sounds a lot like Allison Kraus, and her sister harmonizes, favoring Dolly Parton. These girls are on fire. As the final chorus wraps up, they finish with flair. The audience cheers loudly as Larry celebrates their performance.

These sisters may not be the loudest vocalists, but they have great power to their style and message. It reminds us of the power of Scripture and a life lived for Christ. It is not always on a stage or “loud,” but it is the daily faithfulness and love for the Lord in the mundane. This song teaches about a mother’s faith that led her to a party in celebration of her eternal home in heaven. May it remind us that because of Jesus alone, we have the hope of salvation, and no matter what God’s timing is for us to go be with Him, there will be a celebration in heaven over every single person who receives His gift.

“I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.” Luke 15:7

Dennis Quaid's Emotional 'Just As I Am' Performance

Longtime Hollywood actor Dennis Quaid turned in an emotional and moving performance of the beloved hymn “Just as I am.”

Perfection is not a possibility. No one on Earth can do it. Everyone has flaws, imperfections and blemishes. Humans are a fallen and lost group; all are born into sin following the bite of the apple in the garden.

Sin created a rupture, a division between humans and God. Human beings did and have willfully turned their backs on the Lord, His ways and commands. In our arrogance and disobedience, we chose our way over His.

But, as the Bible says in John, that did not stop Him from sending His one and only son to Earth. Jesus Christ went to the cross, bleeding and dying on the cross, taking our place as a sacrifice. He paid a debt we will never be able to repay.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Dennis beautifully sings the hymn “Just as I am.” It’s a beloved hymn about how Christ calls and accepts sinners to stop and turn to Him immediately. There is no need for them to clean or ready themselves before coming to Him. Christ’s love and forgiveness are available to all. All anyone must do to receive this gift is to repent of their sins. God will do the rest. He will and does change lives.

The timeless tune’s opening verse perfectly captures and articulates Christ’s amazing love and how He calls all sinners to come to Him just as they are.

“Just as I am, without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bid’st me to come to Thee
Oh, Lam of God, I come, I come”

For whatever reason, some people may believe that they are too far gone to receive this gift of forgiveness and love. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Christ is calling all to come to Him in their current and present state.

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Family's Heartwarming Rendition of 'Thank You Lord'

A musically gifted family turned in a beautiful and heartwarming performance of “Thank You, Lord.”

There are places throughout the Bible where Christians are called to bring their cares, concerns, worries and burdens to the Lord. We are to set them at His feet, leaving them with Him and allowing Him to work in that situation. Of course, prayer is the method through which Christians can do this.

However, while the Lord calls Christians to bring Him their concerns and anything else troubling them, it’s also good to stop and thank Him for the many ways He has touched and blessed our lives. The Lord continually provides and blesses our lives, often in areas and places we overlook or take for granted. Having a heart and spirit of thankfulness is something that all Christians should possess.

In a clip posted on YouTube, the Cinereski family sings a beautiful song of worship and praise, thanking the Lord for the many ways in which he’s touched their lives. The song’s lyrics thank the Lord for the many things we typically overlook.

The song’s opening verse expresses thanks and gratitude to the Lord for things I know I don’t think about daily, but He still provides it daily.

“For making the sun to sun, putting the stars in the sky
For the flowers that bloom, the ocean so blue, thank you, Lord
For the sparrow that sing and makes sweet melody
For the rivers that flow, the rain and the snow, thank you, Lord”

The lyrics also thank the Lord for providing food, clothing and family. Finally, the lyrics express gratitude for Christ willingly going to the cross, suffering and dying in our place so that we may experience eternal life with Him.

You may be going through a rough patch, and life’s blessings may be hard to see, but the Lord is still in control. There is still much to be thankful for because the Lord has blessed and touched our lives in many ways, none of which we deserve.

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will give you all you have need of from the wealth of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Trio's Chilling Cover of 'We'll Understand It Better By and By'

A super-talented trio turned in a chilling and sweet performance of the gospel song “We’ll Understand It Better By and By.”

A big part of being a Christian and following Jesus Christ is faith. In life, there are many situations where the outcome or the next step is unclear and messy. We aren’t able to look into the future, so often, we have to make the best decision possible with the information available to us.

God can and does work similarly. We will encounter situations in life that will test and stretch our faith. These circumstances are often painful, but growth of any kind usually does hurt, at least a little. Taking that first step entirely blind and completely trusting Him to lead us down a murky and unclear path is always difficult.

Christ will often do things or lead us to places that might initially appear crazy, off-the-wall, or completely wrong. However, it’s in these times that faith and relying and trusting upon Him are necessary and needed. The Bible even mentions the large role faith plays in following Christ.

In a clip posted on YouTube, three musically gifted people sing a tune about walking, following by faith and placing one’s trust completely in the Lord. The song’s opening verse mentions faith and leading wherever He may lead, even when we do not understand it.

“Trials dark on every hand

And we may not understand

All the ways that God would lead us

To that blessed promised land”

However, as the song continues, and as the title indicates, we’ll be able to see one day what He was doing all along when we step back and look at the big picture. He has a plan, a purpose and a will for each life. We may not understand everything that happens all the time, but in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him.

2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by seeing.”

Jeannie Seely Chilling 'What A Friend We Have In Jesus' Performance

Country music singer Jeannie Seely turned in a chilling and moving performance of the beloved hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”

We can never have too many friends. Friends are people we can count on and lean upon when life becomes difficult and weighs us down. In those times, friends become a much-needed shoulder to cry on and can provide an uplifting and encouraging word.

On the other hand, friends are among the first people to help us celebrate during more joyous and happy occasions. They want nothing more than for us to experience all the good life offers. But true, committed friends are there regardless, through the good and the bad.

The beloved, classic hymn, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” accurately and perfectly describes the kind of friend we have in Jesus Christ, the world's Savior. We can turn to Him in prayer when life becomes overwhelming and unbearable.

But He is more than a close friend. He is a Savior who can and will forgive sins and transform lives. As the song’s lyrics mention, all we have to do is turn to Him in prayer.

“Can we find a friend so faithful

Who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness

Take it to the Lord in prayer”

We can lay our concerns and burdens at His feet and know He will work in those situations and circumstances. Relying upon Him and having complete faith in Him, as the Bible says, will provide a peace that surpasses all understanding.

What an absolutely beautiful rendition of a lovely and truth-filled song about the most faithful and loving friend we could ever hope to have. This is one cover that you’ll likely want to listen to repeatedly.

Proverbs 18:24 “A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
