Notes From The Road - The Cold Weather

For those of you who braved the holiday travel season, I applaud you. You did it. Well done, and for the most part, the weather wasn’t that bad. There were no nightmare scenarios of families opening presents under a SBARRO sign on Christmas Eve in an airport that suddenly found itself housing stranded hundreds due to its tarmac turning into the frozen tundra overnight. So, that’s nice. However, for those of us who live in parts of the world where winter is a thing, it’s time to remember the keys to making it through Cold Weather Travel unscathed. As always, the first and best thing to do is maintain a positive attitude. Other than that you really just need to be prepared. Bring plenty of warm clothes, a travel blanket and pillow (hopefully you won’t need them but if you do…), and I like to suggest some form of analogue entertainment. As in, a real book or magazine. You never know what the power situation is going to be in some places and you may find you need to kill some time while an airport or airline does repairs, cleans up a snowy mess, or whatever it is they need to do in order to get you to your chosen destination. Remember, it may not feel like it at times, but we’re all in this together. Especially during these frightfully frigid months.
