Oregon Senate president, 76, hospitalized with hip pain

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Senate President Peter Courtney, who’s the longest-serving legislator in Oregon history, is in a Portland hospital after experiencing severe hip pain. His office said Tuesday that the 76-year-old Courtney hurt his hip while spinning last week. He is being checked out at Oregon Health and Science University hospital and will be held there for several days. His office said he expects to be back in time for the 2020 legislative session which starts on Feb. 3.
