Backers of Arkansas casino expansion ask to drop challenge



LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Supporters of a proposed state constitutional amendment that would allow 16 more casinos in Arkansas say they are dropping a challenge of a decision not to include the proposal on the November ballot. Arkansas Wins in 2020 spokesman Taylor Riddle told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the organization is asking the state Supreme Court to dismiss its challenge of Arkansas Secretary of State John Thurston's refusal to place the question on the Nov. 3 ballot. The proposal was one of three Thurston rejected in July saying it did not comply with a state law requiring campaigns to certify their signatures gatherers had passed background checks.
