TORONTO (AP) — Canada’s largest city is asking the Ontario provincial government to extend a lockdown order to at least March 9. Restrictions placed on Toronto by Ontario’s government are currently scheduled to be removed on Feb 22. Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health says has never been more worried about the future because of new coronavirus variants. Toronto Mayor John Tory said he supports an extended lockdown. He says they need to ensure the current lockdown is Toronto’s last. Schools just reopened in Toronto this week and retail stores are scheduled to reopen Feb. 22.
