The Open Door Counseling & Community Center is now open and accepting new clients at 300 4th Street in downtown Elyria, bringing hope and healing to Lorain County. Rooted in biblical principles and clinical expertise, The Center offers professional counseling services — including diagnostic assessment, individual counseling, and telehealth — with a mission to remove the common barriers of accessibility, affordability, and long wait times that so often prevent people from getting the mental health support they need.
Executive Director Deborah Broaddus, MEd., LPCC-S, leads a team of licensed counselors committed to providing Christ-centered care to individuals and families facing trauma, poverty, and instability.
Beyond counseling, The Center also serves as a community gathering place, offering free support groups and classes designed to foster togetherness, fellowship, and practical life skills.
Current offerings include Celebrate Recovery, GriefShare, DivorceCare, and Alcoholics Anonymous — all free and open to anyone in the community.
Whether someone is seeking professional mental health care or simply looking for a safe, welcoming place to heal alongside others, The Open Door Center exists to meet people right where they are.
