Another Kathy Griffin?

Actor Johnny Depp is now facing the spotlight after casually joking about the assassination of President Donald Trump in England yesterday.

The Oscar-nominated actor remarked on the possibility of an actor killing the President of the United States. Depp was introducing a film when he made the remarks. According to the New York Times, he said "When was the last time an actor assassinated a president? I want to clarify: I’m not an actor. I lie for a living. However, it’s been a while and maybe it’s time."

The actor had been speaking about President Trump and even asked “Can you bring Trump here?” before speaking about assassination.

It was only a few short weeks ago that comedian Kathy Griffin was roundly criticized for a photo shoot that included graphic photos of President Donald Trump. Griffin faced a backlash from both sides of the aisle after the photos came to light and even lost some sponsorship deals.

It remains to be seen if Depp, an internationally-known celebrity, will face the same kind of treatment for his remarks.
