In my years of counseling and ministering to married couples, mostly in distress, I have learned some principles that run fairly consistent within each marriage. Couples really are not that different from each other.
Women are very multi-faceted and complex. This doesn't mean you have to figure out the meaning of everything we say. Society conditions us to keep what hurts us inside, but you have the power to break down those walls. You should be wondering why you feel you can't trust our answer and why we are trying to hide our emotions.
We can learn so much from Paul’s approach to resolving this tension in this new church and apply the lessons from this passage to help us better navigate marital conflicts. Here are 4 takeaways from the passage to help mend conflicts in your marriage.
Prayer helps us look away from our own mistakes and trust God, who created marriage in the first place. Through prayer, we find the power to stay close when life tries to pull us apart.
There is a massive catalog of ways in which God has shown up and confirmed that He has everything under control. These three lessons are perhaps the biggest things I’ve learned along the way.
Our society has a lot to say about gender roles, and often it feels at odds with what the Bible says. But is it manly for Christians to drink beer, watch sports, and act domineering? Together, we'll look at five incredible ways the Bible defines manhood.
If our hearts are right with the Lord, we see that being a helpmate is not the issue; both the man’s and the woman’s perspective has been problematic. Sin has crept into the relationship and into the ways we view God’s perfect design for relationships.
We see that God’s perfect design for humanity is man and woman, living together as one flesh in two separate bodies, tending and caring for God’s garden, all in obedience to and relationship with the Lord. It’s a commentary on marriage, on relationship, and on the holy work we are all tasked to do.
Discover the foundational steps to building a truly happy Christian marriage, moving beyond societal misconceptions to embrace a relationship centered on God's love and guidance. Learn how obedience, truthful love, unwavering honesty, intentionality, and a deep reliance on Jesus can transform your marriage into a strong, enduring covenant.
For those of us who are believers in God, we utilize a biblical mindset to best handle the ebbs and flows of marital bliss. Wisdom, as expressed regularly through the Scriptures, must be adopted into one’s life and also one’s marriage.
