CINCINNATI (AP) — Police say a mother and her two sons have died apparently from gun shots in what police suspect is a murder-suicide in southwestern Ohio.
Springfield Police Chief Stephen Moody says the preliminary investigation indicates the woman shot her sons and took her own life. He says the woman and her 7-year-old son were found dead at their home, and her 10-year-old son died at a hospital.
Moody and a Clark County coroner's investigator identified the mother as 32-year-old Rachel Johnson, the 7-year-old as Daylan Johnson and the 10-year-old as Ayden Johnson.
Moody says the children's father, 39-year-old Arthur Johnson, called police after finding the mother and children when he went to pick up his sons for school.
The Springfield City School District says grief counselors are at the boys' school.
