Health advisory lifted for southwest Ohio lake

BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) — State officials have lifted a public health advisory issued last month for swimmers at East Fork Lake in southwest Ohio.

The Department of Natural Resources warned June 23 about a toxin produced by an algae bloom in the lake. The advisory was for the campground beach and main beach at the Clermont County park east of Cincinnati. It warned very young visitors, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems to avoid swimming or wading in the lake.

The DNR said Saturday that testing over the last two weeks has shown that the toxin has dropped below the advisory threshold.
