Arrest made in Ohio death of child rape suspect

URBANA, Ohio (AP) — A man has been arrested on murder and other charges in the death of a central Ohio child rape suspect who was hospitalized after a jail assault.

Defendant Zachary Butler, of Richwood, was in jail at the time of the assault on charges of resisting arrest and drunken driving. He was indicted last week on charges of murder, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, reckless homicide and tampering with evidence.

Union County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Tom Morgan says the 24-year-old Butler was arrested Tuesday in Plain City. Jail records don't list an attorney for him.

A report by the Champaign County Sheriff's Office says inmate David Piersol was the victim of an assault on April 5 at Tri-County Regional Jail in Mechanicsburg and died a few days later.
