NEW YORK (AP) — Residents in a Queens neighborhood that's still feeling the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy will gather for a healing Mass.
It will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Far Rockaway.
Of the 1,200 parishioners there, more than 60 percent are Spanish-speaking.
Church officials say many of them are undocumented immigrants who were only allowed to participate in one aid program.
The church helped some parishioners pay rent, and provided clothing for children.
Thousands of local residents went to the parish for help. A disaster relief center set up in nearby Edgemere helped both Catholics and non-Catholics.
